Samuel Beckett's Gastro Irish Pub and Restaurant's projected opening date is December 15th according to owner Mark Kirwan. The grand opening will not be until sometime in January to make sure everything is in mint condition. All of the overseas containers have arrived from Ireland and the beautiful wood work is flying up.
Bistro Bistro Shirlington is Open on Thanksgiving Day
Bistro Bistro will be open on Thanksgiving Day from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. They are serving a traditional Thanksgiving buffet for $24.95 per person with Starbuck's coffee, iced tea, and soda included. Mimosas are $3 and Champagne $4. Turkey, Ham, Roast Beef, and Tilapia are on the menu.

County Board members on Saturday are expected to authorize continued outdoor seating with piped-in music at restaurants in Shirlington for the next three years.
The seating and music “contribute to the active character” of the Shirlington shopping/dining/entertainment venue, county staff said in recommending continuation of the initiative.
The Village at Shirlington is owned by Federal Realty Investment Trust, but approval of outdoor seating and music requires County Board approval. The authorization will cover Ping by Charlie Chiang’s, Curious Grape, Aroma, Aladdin’s Eatery, Bonsai Grill, Guapo’s, Thai in Shirlington, Luna Grill, Bistro Bistro, Maggie Moos, Capitol City Brewing Co., Best Buns Bread Co., Carlyle and Extra Virgin.
In addition, board members are being asked to extend authorization for live entertainment at Extra Virgin.
At the same meeting, County Board members are expected to impose new conditions on a host of Clarendon-area restaurants that provide live entertainment. The conditions will relate to security, interior and exterior noise, service of alcohol and cleaning the nearby sidewalk, and will require venues to post signs near their exits, asking patrons to respect the quietude of nearby residential neighborhoods and to avoid parking in those neighborhoods where possible.
Restaurants slated to be covered under the additional restrictions include Mr. Days, Sobe, Lyon Hall, La Tasca, Hard Times Cafe, Jay’s Saloon, Whitlow’s on Wilson, Clarendon Grill, Clarendon Ballroom, Boulevard Woodgrill, O’Sullivan’s, RiRa, Eleventh Street Lounge, Spider Kelly’s and Northside Social.

Getting To and From Shirlington – The Car Free Way!
No matter where you go in Shirlington, sticking to the Car-Free Diet couldn’t be easier. With lots of sidewalks, tons of green space and an extensive network of ART and Metrobus routes, this urban village is extremely car-free friendly.
Once you’re there, check out the Village of Shirlington with its mix of restaurants, shops, movies and the Signature Theater. You can also explore the W&OD bike trail and the Four Mile Run Trails.
The Shirlington Bus Station, located at S. Quincy and Randolph St., provides a convenient and easy way to catch one of the many ART and Metrobuses that stop there. The ART 77 and 75 routes were recently extended to Shirlington, with the 77 running until 11:00 pm on weekdays.
If you’re a Shirlington resident, the bus can help make your commute less stressful. ART 87 goes to the Pentagon Metro, while ART 75 and 77 can take you to Metro stations along the Orange line.
Stop by the Commuter Store inside the Shirlington bus station to buy all your transit fares and get the info you need to get around Shirlington and beyond!

Shirlington Running Club New Location
The Shirlington Running Club (The SRC) is moving locations today and can be found gathering on the opposite end of Shirlington. The SRC used to gather at Cap City and has now changed sponsors and will be gathering at Busboys & Poets. The club has been operating for over a year and has nearly 800 members total! It's attendance each week is over 100.
A bit about The SRC
The Shirlington Running Club (The SRC) is the neighborhood's free club for all those interested in both running and socializing. Hundreds turn out every week for their famous 5K loop in Shirlington followed by their social happy hour. The SRC's motto is "for healthy people with social interests" and they convene EVERY TUESDAY evening at 6:30pm at Busboys and Poets in downtown Shirlington. They welcome all levels of runners, from beginners to the experienced marathoner.
This week they are relocating to their new venue at Busboys and Poets and they are really excited to offer their members a healthy fare as well as organic beer! Check out their website at www.ShirlingtonRunningClub.com for more information and hopefully they'll see you tonight!
