Shirlington Women's Walk
If you are a woman in the Shirlington Village area interested in walking for fitness and fun, join us! We are a group of women (35+) who walk on Mon, Wed at 6:30 p.m. and Sat. at 9 a.m. We meet in front of the Shirlington Village movie theater and walk 20-30 minutes out and 20-30 minutes back on the W&OD path. We walk at 3 to 3.5 miles/hr. This a group geared to beginners or advanced beginners. We do not walk if it is raining, there is threatening weather (tornado threats, hail, thunder, etc.) or if the temperature is above 100 degrees.

Curing Cancer with Cupcakes?
Curing Cancer with Cupcakes?
Wouldn’t it be sweet if your cupcake could aid in the cure for cancer?
Well it can during the Hello Cupcake for a Cure KitchenAid Promotion.
Bakers are encouraged to submit a cupcake recipe of a pink-frosted tribute to the fight against breast cancer. The winning cupcake recipe will be re-created and sold on July 17 the during the Hello Cupcake for a Cure KitchenAid Promotion. A portion of the sales will go to Susan G. Komen for Breast Cancer research.
Want to Submit? You have until July 10.
1. Post a picture of your pink cupcake and recipe name to the Hello Cupcake Facebook page.
2. Submit entire recipe to recipesforacure@hellocupcakeonline.com with cupcake name, contestant name, email and phone number. Cupcake recipes will be judged on originality, ability to re-create and testability. On July 10, Hello Cupcake will contact the top five contestants and hold a 2-Day Facebook Fan Vote.
Cook for a Cure, presented by KitchenAid and Susan G. Komen for the Cure gives those with a passion for cooking a way to support the breast cancer movement to date, the program has raised $7 million for Susan G. Komen for the Cure through donation-with-purchase program, fundraising activities, auctions and grassroots initiatives.
Run for the Gulf 5k
Help the Gulf recover from the oil spill right here in Arlington. Join the ACE team in the Clean Water Network's "Run for the Gulf 5k" on Friday, July 16, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. in Arlington's Bluemont Park.
